T.O.R.N. was established in 1973 to promote the professional status of perioperative nurses.Today TORN continues this through an annual conference and regular education sessions. T.O.R.N. maintains a close association with the national body of perioperative nurses ACORN, is involved in the establishment of relevant national guidelines and competencies, and the provision of expert advise to governmental and nursing bodies on matters pertaining to perioperative nursing.
